The Ephorate of Antiquities of Pella organizes a pottery training workshop with the theme “From the clay to the kiln” in the Museum of Pella and in the archaeological site of Pella on Saturday 23.09.2023 and on Friday 29.09.2023. In this experiential pottery workshop, the participants will learn about the primordial art of making clay objects, focusing on the wine-related objects. The public will actively participate by baking their own creations in an oven that has been built according to ancient standards.
The workshop is implemented in the framework of the project «Enhancing the cross-border wine experience for local development» with the acronym «wine-up». The project is co-funded by the European Union and national funds of the countries participating in the Interreg IPA Cross-border Cooperation Programme “Greece – Republic of North Macedonia 2014-2020”.
The agenda of the workshop is following:
- 09:00 Participants’ welcoming by Dr. Elisavet Tsigarida, Director;
- 09:15 Introduction to the project “wine-up” by Mrs. Elpiniki Naum, Archaeologist;
- 09:30 -11:00 Brief history of pottery and its making by G. Staggidis, Ceramist;
- 11:00-13:30 Creation of pottery objects with the guidance of Mr. G. Staggidis, Ceramist;
- 13:30 -14:30 Coffee break;
- 14:30 Objects’ baking.
Registration to participate in the program is required. Priority order will be strictly followed. Registration requests are accepted on the working days, from 08:30 till 15:00, at 23820-31160 (Mrs. Zamioudi A.).
For the implementation of the workshop, the PB3 is going to contract the services of the catering and the ceramist expertise with direct contracts. This is the invitation for the catering and this is the invitation for the ceramist.
